LIVING THE PB LIFE: Staying PBFIT this Holiday Season!

LIVING THE PB LIFE: Staying PBFIT this Holiday Season!

As the holiday season closes in around us, it is more important than ever to stick to a plan that keeps you feeling your best so you can enjoy the season to its fullest! The busyness, stress we put on ourselves, and focus on heavy foods can derail our fitness and health goals and leave us feeling pretty "blah" come January 1st. Over the years, I have learned that by keeping to a certain set of guidelines, I can enjoy all the festiveness of the season and still wake up ready to embrace and attack a new year as my best self! Here's 6 ways you can too:

No matter how busy you get, don't completely forfeit your weekly schedule. Planet Ballroom studios work hard to create a festive environment that allow you to escape into the MAGIC of the season, 45 minutes at a time! Make sure you press "pause" on all the running around to enjoy it. Trust me, your heart, mind, and spirit will thank you!
Commit to PBFIT! Try to schedule your lesson around a fitness class and get your sweat on at least twice a week. The added calorie burn will ease the impact of all the Christmas cookies you are going to want to indulge in and the endorphins released will up your Christmas spirit even higher!
Drink tons of water. Keep a cup of it in the car and sip while driving to parties, shopping, etc. If you enjoy indulging in wine or other spirits at parties, alternate a glass of water in between each drink. You will feel SO much better the next morning.
Pick and choose. I am absolutely not an advocate of bringing a food scale to Thanksgiving dinner, not sticking to the veggie tray at a party. That said, I pick one course to splurge on and then try to keep the other two light. If the appetizers are fried and full of cheesy goodness that I can't resist, I skip the mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and go light on the gravy for dinner. Don't forget, if you are attending something pot-luck, bring a healthy option that you know you will love.
Wear something with a belt. I know, crazy right? But I just picked my Thanksgiving dress this week and you better believe it had a belt on it! Its not comfortable to spend a day with a belt digging into you so you are far less likely to eat to the point of crazy if you are wearing one. Plus, I always feel like wearing spandex or stretchy mentally gives me the green light to go nuts and so much of feeling good and making good choices is mental.
Don't throw in the towel! Even I walk away from a meal or party at some point and know I way over-did it. I wake up the next morning feeling AWFUL and unfortunately, how bad I feel makes it easy to repeat the same mistake the next day. The entire month of November and December are NOT shot because you eat an entire bag of Ghiradelli peppermint bark one night. Chug a big glass of water and forget it.
